Golf Holidays To The Mediterranean
Our programme includes the islands of Sicily, Majorca and Cyprus. All three islands have very different topographies, locations and climates, with very varied golf courses.
Sicily, which lies off the south west coast of the heel of Italy, is very unspoiled, a large island, it is actually the biggest in the Mediterranean. There are not that many flights to the two main airports, Catania and Palermo from the UK, but there are many more now than 2-3 years ago.
Mount Etna dominates many views on the east side of the island and our favoured resorts of Donnafugata in the south east and Verdura on the south west coasts, offer exceptional 36 hole golf complexes. All four courses are very exhilarating. Palermo is a very interesting ancient city in the north west.
Majorca is of course one of the Mediterranean’s most popular islands, contrasting to Sicily, there are a huge array of flights from most UK airports, especially from April to October. The golf courses are much busier from May to September, when the weather is at its best. Our featured resorts run by PURE SALT and STARWOOD, offer quality hotels with excellent golf packages, two of which are on site to great golf at Son Vida, near Palma City – whilst the other two are very close to the sea on the south coast, within walking distance to bars and restaurants on the beach, or on a marina and harbour front.
Cyprus, which lies between Turkey and Lebanon in the middle of the Mediterranean is another very well-known island with the UK Tourist and although a considerably longer flight time than Majorca, it is incredibly popular, year-round.
The period December – February can be chilly however. Aphrodite Hills Golf Resort will enjoy a totally revamped golf course by February 2018, we would not recommend staying on resort, until it reopens unless you are happy playing at Elea, Secret Valley and Minthis Hills.
